Movies coming out soon 2021
It's not unusual for movie releases to shift around the calendar, but COVID-19 has created a unique set of circumstances. A lot of movies that are finally coming out in 2021 were supposed to come out in 2020. While a vaccine is already being distributed worldwide, studios are unsure when people will feel comfortable returning to theaters.
With that in mind, we've compiled a list of release dates that are highly prone to change, particularly in early 2021. We've also noted instances where a theatrical release coincides with a streaming release, such as all Warner Bros. films in 2021, which will be available on HBO Max at the same time.

Ferry
(May 14)
A prequel to the Belgian-Dutch Netflix series Undercover, focusing on Ferry Bouman, a pre-cartel boss on a vengeance mission.
Cruella
(May 28)
In 1970s London's punk and fashion scenes, Disney's live-action film will star Emma Stone as a younger Cruella de Vil, the iconic villain from 1961's "101 Dalmatians." Emma Thompson, Joel Fry, Paul, Walter Hauser, and Mark Strong will also appear.
A Quiet Place Part II

In "A Quiet Place Part II," the family members played by Emily Blunt, Millicent Simmonds, and Noah Jupe must remain silent while evading deadly monsters in a dystopian world.
In the Heights
(June 11)
The musical drama, which premieres on HBO Max and in theaters, is directed by Jon M. Chu and produced by Lin-Manuel Miranda and takes place over three days in New York City's Dominican American neighborhood of Washington Heights. Based on Miranda's musical of a similar name, the adaptation stars Stephanie Beatriz, Anthony Ramos, Melissa Barrera, and others.
Luca

Pixar's coming-of-age story about one young boy's unforgettable summer on the Italian Riviera is based on a closely guarded secret: his best friend is a sea monster from another world. Jacob Tremblay, Maya Rudolph, Jack Dylan Grazer, Emma Berman, Marco Barricelli, and Jim Gaffigan.
Fast & Furious 9
(June 25)
This ninth season of the beloved action franchise follows Dominic Toretto, played by Vin Diesel, and his crew and family members as they band together to battle one of the world's most talented assassins and high-performance drivers. His estranged brother, Jakob, played by John Cena. Han Lue, a fan-favorite character who was thought to be long-dead, also reappears in the new film.
Zola

Based on a viral 2015 Twitter thread, Zola (Taylour Paige), a Detroit waitress, befriends Stefani (Riley Keough), an exotic dancer. She convinces her new friend to join her on a road trip to a high-end strip club in Florida where they can make a fortune in just one night of dancing. Unfortunately, the 48-hour adventure spirals out of control in the face of Stefani's pimp (Colman Domingo) and idiot boyfriend (Nicholas Braun), Tampa gangsters, and plenty of craziness.
Black Widow
(July 9)
Scarlett Johansson's Black Widow movie is finally releasing soon. The long-awaited Marvel film, which also stars David Harbour, Florence Pugh, and O-T Fagbenle,
takes place after the events of 2016's "Captain America: Civil War," and will see Natasha Romanoff on the run and forced to confront her past as a spy, long before she became an Avenger.
Forever Purge
(July 9)
With the release of the fifth film in the "The Purge" series, the series will come to an end. The plotline is still unknown due to the lack of an official description from Universal Pictures. On the other hand, Will Patton revealed in a recent Collider interview that he plays a rancher. Director Everardo Gout revealed to Total Film in January that it takes place after the events of "Purge: Election Year," and things take a turn when a group of outsiders continues purging beyond the allotted time. Josh Lucas, Ana de la Reguera, Tenoch Huerta, Cassidy Freeman, and Veronica Falcón also appear in the film.
The French Dispatch

Timothée Chalamet, Tilda Swinton, Saoirse Ronan, Bill Murray, Jeffrey Wright, Frances McDormand, Elisabeth Moss, Willem Dafoe, Christoph Waltz, and many more star in Wes Anderson's latest drama film, The film is set in the office of an American magazine in a fictional French city. It follows three different storylines.
Three Thousand Years of Longing

The upcoming film, written and directed by George Miller, will star Idris Elba and Tilda Swinton. Little is known about the film, but it has been described as a two-handed "epic love story" that is "the polar opposite of 'Fury Road,'" about a woman who travels to Istanbul and meets a genie.
